At some time in their lives, most men will experience some form of erection problem. That is, they either will have trouble getting an erection, or will be unable to maintain their erection long enough to finish having sex.

Treatment Options

- Counseling or psychological therapy. Since erectile dysfunction is sometimes caused by non-physical factors, some men benefit from this form of non-medical intervention. Individual therapy, or counseling involving both the man and his partner, can often be an effective treatment for a man's erection problem.
- Hormone treatments. Some men have responded well to hormone treatments, which help increase the blood flow required to achieve and maintain an erection. A range of hormone treatment methods are available to treat erectile dysfunction including injections, suppositories and, in rare cases, hormone replacement therapy.
